Dumont Burger- Brooklyn, NY
OK- so this place makes all this NY City lists as one of the top burgers. It took us an hour and a half to get there from Princeton- quite the road trip! Then I found a parking place exactly in front of the burger joint- no lie! Made my whole day and got me over the drive. Then they are also know for mac-n-cheese which we ordered as an appetizer. Frankly, my mac-n-cheese is better. We all ordered different burgers. All were good, bordering on great but just missed the mark. What was excellent was the cheeses this place used- top quality and they did not skimp on you. The big plus is that they are now doing signature artisan doughnuts. Yeah, well I'm not ranking doughnuts but I didn't pass up the chance to make sure they were doing them right! Order 'em- they are goooooood! I'd go back to this place but it's not #1 when you can go to Minetta Tavern and have my now, #1 burger on the list!
Abbey Burger Bistro- Baltimore, MD
This is "ok". Probably would have been really good if they hadn't over cooked it. How do you overcook Kobe beef? I mean really. There are better burgers to be had!
Canada Steak Burger- San Diego, CA
My web research says this is the #1 burger in San Diego. I say- debatable at best! I was told by a San Diego Cop that I didn't really belong in that area of town so I guess my advice is, take a body guard if you go! This is just an ordinary dive. Not rank-able with the big boys, but worth a stop if you're in San Diego.
